Test Results

Matt had his Doctor appointment last Wednesday. Matt was informed that he has another tumor on his bladder, a spot in his right abdomen and some in his pelvic bone. Doctor Holen felt that if Dr. Sugarbaker was willing to do another surgery and the insurance lets us go to Washington D C again that Matt should start with Chemo. Doctor Holen explained to us it would not be go to do radiation at this time. Radiation would make it difficult to do another surgery. It would cause to much scar tissue build up to get through.

Doctor Holen explained the kind of chemo that Dr. Sugarbaker wanted he to try. The drug name is Cetuximab. He is to do it once a week for an hour. The first week (this last Friday, Aug 27) was to last about 3 hours. After that it will only take about a hour. There are a few side affects. This drug causes bad acne and possible rash on his body. They say these are good side affects. This means the drug is working. His skin will be sensitive to the sun.

Matt had his first chemo. Matt showed no signs of allergic reaction to the drug. It made him very tired. We found out that his CEA tumor marker test went up to 14.7. It took another jump from 9.7.

Matt and his family ask for prayers that this chemo will help and for a miracle that this cancer goes away!

Thank you to everyone for your continued support!
